U.S. UCAN Workshop, 8:00a – 4:00p, April 26, 2012, Crystal Gateway Marriott, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202
Description: The Unified Community Anchor Network (UCAN) workshop is a working meeting of the community that is connecting the Community Anchor Institutions (CAIs) in the U.S. The workshop will address current successes, opportunities and issues facing this community. This premier workshop of this community will focus on the benefits that CAIs have achieved and applications that have been shown to be successful because of the availability of advanced networking facilities. The workshop builds on the successful Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP)/Middle Mile workshops of the past. The UCAN workshop goes beyond the deployment of infrastructure to support the CAIs to the services and capabilities enabled infrastructure.
The workshop attendees will hear from and interact with senior level government officials involved with programs for the CAIs. The workshop will provide ample opportunities for interaction and will result in steps toward the identification of best practices, resources and policies.
Who should attend: The workshop is open to any member of the current or prospective UCAN community with a interest in participating in the development of a success community. The sectors that will be represented include, Health, Education, Public Safety, and the Arts and Humanities. Individuals from these sectors with an interest in taking advantage of services that can or should result from the availability of an advance network should attend.
Cost: The workshop fee is $50.
